Pinna is a Finnish word that refers to, for example, the spokes in a baby crib, but it can also describe something intangible in your mind that gets very long and tight and can snap if something gets on your nerves too much.
This piece is an ode to resilience—when you're about to lose your nerve but hold it together and stay strong. For me, this was a daily struggle when I began painting this piece in 2023, while my two kids were just a baby and a toddler. They came into my life like a meteorite, they swirl in like they are deliberately testing my nerves, but I try to stay cool, confident, and strong, just like this painting.
